Hello,

I filed my federal taxes on 2/9 and they were shown as accepted. All online tools including Where's My Refund says my tax return was received. When I called the IRS today 3/31 they said they do not show record of receiving it. Can someone help me figure out what is going on?

    Hello freefallin:

Another possible solution is to obtain your Submission I.D. and then place another call to the IRS, and request to speak with a Supervisor who has the requisite authority to search for your tax return using your Submission I.D.

To obtain your Submission I.D., log back into your account and navigate to the Final Steps section. In the Final Steps section, look for the ”Check Status/Print Return" screen where you should be able to obtain your Submission I.D. given that your tax return reflects that it has been accepted. The Submission I.D. serves as proof that your return is in the IRS system and can be used to help the IRS locate your tax return.

We have a great article that discusses your issue, and also explains, among other things, how you can obtain a copy of your Account Transcript which is another great way of ascertaining the status of your tax return.
