I live in north carolina but have worked in Georgia for the past 6 months. Do I need to file taxes in both states?

    Hi Pjlover,

Yes, you will need to file a resident North Carolina return. I assume you maintained your residence there for a full year, right?

Also file a Nonresident GA return.

All the income earned in Georgia will be taxed on your North Carolina return. However, you may claim a credit for taxes paid to another state on your North Carolina return, which will lower your NC taxes due or increase your NC refund.
