can we split the real property tax between two different tax payers?

My sister & I bought a house this year; she's in another state and I live here. Can we each claim half of the real property taxes paid?

    Hello, Kris_1616!

    That is a great question!

    If you both jointly own the home and each of you pay half of the property taxes from a joint account in which you both have equal interest, each of you can claim half of the property taxes paid.
