Retirement Savings Contributions Credit

I want to know if I qualify for the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit. I read that one of the requirements is that you are not a full time student. I did attend school but did not take enough credits to de defined as a full time student by the institution I attended. I was more than half time but less than full time status. Am I able to claim the credit even though I was a student but not a full time student?

    Hi Blu,

That is a great question. Do you qualify for the Saver's Credit if you were a part-time student? I went and did a little digging for you. The IRS says, "A full-time student is a student who is enrolled for the number of hours or courses that the school considers to be full-time attendance."

So, if your school considers you part-time for taking 4-6 credit (or something along those lines) you would still qualify for the Saver's credit.
