Can I file California 540nr without filing federal?

in Filing my taxes

Due to a H&Rblock software issue I’m unable to file my calif 540nr electronically. I successfully efiled my federal through Block. My question is, can I file a standalone 540nr through freetaxusa?

    Our software requires that a federal return be e-filed in the same account as an e-filed state return. If you have already filed your federal return using a different service, you will not be able to e-file a CA Form 540NR using our software. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
