I have a 1099-patr. I don’t see a section of where to enter it.

Taxable Distributions Received From Cooperatives (Form 1099-PATR)

    For Business Income (Schedule C):
Menu Path: Income > Business Income > Business Income (Schedule C)
    -or-
    For Farm Income (Schedule F):
Menu Path: Income > Business Income > Farm Income (Schedule F)

If a cooperative has paid at least $10 in patronage dividends and other distributions to you, you should receive a Form 1099-PATR.

If the patronage dividends and other distributions you received are related to your business income, you can report this on your Schedule C where we ask for Miscellaneous Income on the Other Income and Returns Expense screen.

If the patronage dividends and other distributions you received are related to your farming income, you can report this on your Schedule F where we ask for Cooperative Distributions in the Income section of your Schedule F.

I receive a 1099-PATR from my gas supplier for a small amount of patronage dividends, but I only receive gas to my rural home - I am not participating in farming or other forms of business. Where/how should I file the 1099-PATR in this case?

    Hi AnonWhenPossible,

If a cooperative has paid at least $10 in patronage dividends and other distributions to you, you should receive a Form 1099-PATR.

If the patronage dividends and other distributions you received are related to your farming income, you can report this on your Schedule F where we ask for Cooperative Distributions.

If it is not related to a farm, report it as Business Income on a Schedule C under gross receipts NOT reported on a 1099.
