Married Filing Jointly
Hello, my husband and I got married last year, this is our first time filing taxes as married filing jointly. We both have Free Tax USA accounts that we use in the past years. How we will start filing taxes this year? Should we create a new account for both of us or we can use one of our accounts that we already have? Or doesn’t matter which account we use the tax returns will appear on both our accounts?

Great question!
You have two options. You can prepare your return on one of your existing accounts, which can speed up the process as we'll carry over some of your information for the new year. Or you can start a fresh account and file that way. So, either way will work, but as I mentioned, using an existing account may be more beneficial.

Hi! I am in the exact same situation (except I'm the husband). One of the nicest things about FreeTaxUSA is how it pulls in your prior year filing information. Is there any way to sync up my wife's account to mine so that it will copy her prior year's filing info like it will do with mine?

Hi rgk,
No, FreeTaxUSA cannot sync your wife's account information to yours. You'll need to manually add your wife's information to your account to file jointly, or vice versa.
