My son started college this summer. We got a 1098-T from the college. Where do I enter this information?

    Hey TysonS,

A 1098-T can be entered by selecting "Deductions/Credits" > "College Tuition (Form 1098-T)." In addition to the information on the 1098-T, the software will ask more questions about educational expenses to calculate which education credit would give you the largest refund.

This doesn't work for me. It just tells me that I don't qualify for the deduction and then doesn't navigate me to the form. How can I enter the form manually?

Hello, 23jessicas, welcome to the FreeTaxUSA Community!

We recommend that you use the IRS Interactive Tax Assistant to determine if you qualify for the education credit on your 2024 income tax return.   https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/am-i-eligible-to-claim-an-education-credit

Our software doesn't allow you to make direct entries onto any of the tax forms or schedules.  If you determine that you are eligible to claim an education credit on your 2024 tax return, please log in to your account and contact Support regarding your specific circumstances regarding the entry of the form 1098-T. The Support Link is in the top right corner of the page after you log in.

I am eligible, but you charge $7.99 for the live support. Is everyone just required to pay $7.99 if they want that deduction?

Just contact the regular support if you don't want to pay for the live support, you won't have the live chat and other benefits of the deluxe support, but you'll still be able to contact them.
