District of Columbia / Underpayment Penalty

Hi, Community - I see under the "Misc." tab for Federal, under the "Payments" category, you can select "Underpayment Penalty (Form 2210)" to get help calculating any underpayment owed to the Federal Government. That is a great feature and very helpful.

My question is—is there a similar feature for calculating any underpayment penalty for DC? (Or, has FreeTaxUSA already calculated such penalty and included it in the refund/owed amount?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

    Hello Adache11,

FreeTaxUSA does not Support Form D-2210 for the underpayment penalty on your Washington D.C. tax return. Washington D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue states that taxpayers should not fill out the form unless it is to your advantage. They will send you an underpayment penalty bill.

However, you could benefit from filling out the form using the annual income method, if most of your income tends to be received later in the year. You can also fill the form out if you think they have miscalculated your bill.
