I tried to create a free file account going through the IRS link and NY state link but every time it just created a standard account. How do I create a free file account?

    Hello Aidan,

    This can happen if you have more than one account in our software. It is possible that you have created a free file account without realizing it was not the commercial software.

    Please try recovering all usernames you have set up in the software by going to our homepage and select Support > Forgot Username or Password. Follow the screens to obtain all usernames created. Once you enter in the verification code received by phone or email, you will be given your username and may reset your password.

    Once you have the usernames, log into all accounts created to see if one of them is Free-File.
