NYS Tax Filer - I do not live in NYC or Yonkers

The FreeTaxUSA system only provides New York City or Yonkers as the locality but my W2 lists only NY. Even when I upload the document it auto populates as New York City. I do not live in New York City or Yonkers and it causes a conflict with the NYS return.

    Hi TaxerMaxer4567, it sounds like the upload may be populating part of your W-2 information incorrectly. If your W-2 doesn't list any local tax information, then you'll just need to clear the locality information entirely. Click the Locality State dropdown, scroll all the way to the top of the list, and select the blank entry at the very top (above any state abbreviations). Make sure Box 18, 19 and 20 are blank--if that's what shows on your actual W-2. Then click Save and Continue. This should resolve the conflict with your NYS return.
