in my W-2, box 14 consist of NYSDI and NYPFL with two digit amounts respectively. Box 19 includes local income tax which is a 3 digit number. I’m confused about the title field that states “if any state disability insurance was withheld from your wages and is shown in box 19 of this w-2, enter the amount. Box 19 does not indicate any SDI it only represents local income tax. Is there a typo or I’m I missing something? Thanks

    Hi Zee10,

If you SDI is listed in box 14, then it is likely it is not in box 19. If your box 19 is clearly for local income tax, then you can ignore that question.

Some employers may use box 19 and 20 to enter SDI withholdings, which can be a little confusing, which is why we ask the question.
