Wondering how the import works and if everything carries over from my old tax returns?

Read them carefully. In the "Migrating" post there is a post that says "If you've already progressed past that page, unfortunately, the only way to get back to it is to create a fresh account."
Honestly I do not remember if it copied all of my 1040's when I did it earlier this year.
Hopefully someone will chime in to add to this post and answer your question more fully.
That's great thank you. It's good to be aware that if I don't import on the first time I'll miss that option.
