I want to contribute to my HSA in 2025 before the 2025 tax filing deadline and have it count for 2024. Is there somewhere during filing where I can specify that I want what I contribute to count towards 2024 and not 2025? I don't believe I see that option in FreeTaxUSA. Thanks!
In 2024, my wife took a once-in-a-lifetime IRA to HSA rollover. The money was transferred directly from a traditional IRA at one custodial company to an HSA at another custodial company. The 1099R for this rollover shows: The Distribution Amount, Taxable Amount not Determined is checked, Distribution Code 7 (normal…
I am wanting to make a contribution to my 2024 HSA. When I make the contribution, do I have to wait for the 5498-SA to file my taxes?
I got married in the middle of the year and we switched to my health insurance family plan. I didn't take into account my wife's previous HSA contributions so I over-contributed to our family HSA by $497. I'd like to make this count towards the following year. I understand that there will be a 6% excess tax for leaving the…
I am in the process of filing my 2024 tax. I was in CA until late July 2024, and I did not make any HSA contribution while in CA. Starting August 2024, I moved to NY, and through my new NY job started making HSA contribution. The HSA amount is strictly on my NY W2. However, it seems like after I entered the HSA information…
Getting confused as this is proving hard to determine, because I have 2 hsa accounts and both are invested so can have varying values at any point in time. Just to be clear, this is asking for total value across all accounts as of dec31. Is this an optional field? If required, why is this question relevant? "Enter the…
QUESTION: How do I account for my health insurance provider's premium pass through to my HSA? I have a high deductible health plan and max out contributions to it - in 2024, the max was $8,300 for self+1 and family. My health insurance had a premium passthrough of $2,000 for 2024. I did the math wrong in 2024 and…
In Box 12 on my W2 I have 940. On the 1099-SA, Box 1 531.56. I made my own out of pocket contribution $3120. I put this on the HSA prompt and it says: "You told us that both you and your employer made contributions to your HSA. If you entered HSA contributions made by your employer as contributions made by you, some of…
My husband is 65 and only on Medicare part A. He is still insured under my plan at work (I am under 60). Can I still contribute the full family amount for 2025? (we have no other dependents).
I worked 3 months for a company that allowed an HSA for myself and spouse. I moved and changed jobs and the new HSA is only allowed for myself. What is my allowable contribution for 2024 and which HSA do I use if I can add money to it?
