How do I check that box on the 1040 that my dependent is a full time student? I have gone back to the Personal Information section and edited the dependent but that is not a question there.
My 25 year old son has severe Crohn's disease and did not work all year. He also lived with me. He collected food stamps but no other assistance and no cash at all. Can I claim him as a dependent? Will it save me on taxes or just complicate and delay the processing of my refund?
My 18 year old daughter, who lives with me, filed her taxes with Freetaxusa and she answered No to the question "Can a parent (or somebody else) claim you as a dependent on their tax return?" when in fact I plan to claim her this year as I provided more than half her support for 2025. We started an amended return and…
I'm somewhat confused if I am dependent for 2024. For the first semester of college (January to May) I was a full time college student working part time. Once summer started I went full time and kept it. This semester (August to December) I am a part time college student. I switched back to part time work (making $15,340…
I see that I’m able to efile my 2023 return if I obtain an IP PIN. Does anyone know if only the primary taxpayer that’s doing the return needs to get one or does my spouse and dependent need one too?
My wife and I are married filing jointly. We have two children, age 5 and 8 who attended summer day camp in 2024. I work and my wife put her career on pause temporarily to take care of the children. We have a Dependent Care FSA through my employer which covers Summer Day Camp for dependent children as an eligible expense.…

I haven't earned an income in a few years and meet all the qualifications for my partner to claim me as a dependent. We have lived together for decades and he has been supporting me the last few years but all of our financial accounts are joint/shared (in both our names). He hasn’t claimed me before, as we thought it only…
If my 2 dependant children lived with me for 12 months, and I claimed both as dependant deductions, can the father (divorced) of one child claim only the child tax credit?
My son (age 28) lives with me. He makes around 10k. I pay for the majority of his expenses, I know he makes too much for me to claim him, but can't I still claim head of household with qualifying person, as per the IRS rules. Freetaxusa used to provide this option but appears to no longer. Any help would be greatly…
