Nothing is more frustrating than having a credit card that gets declined, especially when you’re confident the card should work fine.
If this is something you’re experiencing with FreeTaxUSA, here are some things to try:
- Verify Card Details: Ensure the card number, expiration date, and security code (a three or four-digit number that is usually on the back of the card) are entered correctly.
- Check Name and Billing Address: Make sure you enter the name and billing address (including the ZIP Code) exactly as they appear on the credit card statement. The name and address will automatically flow from the Taxpayer Information screen to the Order Payment screen. If you’re using a credit card that has a different name or address than what is shown on your tax return, you need to manually correct that information on the Payment screen.
- Contact Your Credit Card Provider: Check with your credit card provider to see if there’s an issue on their end. They may be declining the transaction. Also, the call could be useful to verify which address they have on file for you.
